So Damaris's birthday falls on the 30th of July, but she would be back in Germany by then... so we celebrated on the 25th at Auntie Florie's house.
Earlier in the day, Damaris and I went to Golden Gardens in Ballard for a little beach and a little sun. No ocean though, no matter how hot it is, that water is ALWAYS freezing!
Myself and Damaris
At the beach we found out that Auntie Genieve and Carli were at Auntie Florie's, so headed back. Damaris got ready and then we decided that being a new Mom in the summer must be kind of hard on a girl, so we took Carli to get manicures! While we were there, Auntie Genieve called my cell over and over and asked "What does Damaris want for dinner? Keep her out for a while, we're going to have a surprise party." So after getting mani's (and Damaris got a pedi too, if I remember correctly), we headed to U Village to get some Jamba Juice (and Damaris got a 12 pack of Coke) and then we were finally given the okay to head back to Auntie Florie's.
Damaris
Upon arrival at Auntie Florie's, Damaris noticed the Chinese food on the table and said "What's all this?". Well Damaris, you wanted Chinese for dinner and Chinese was what you got! Even your very own special fried rice with NO egg. (Sidenote - the egg is sooo good in fried rice.)
Damaris and Harrison. Bones!
(You don't know how many times I've uploaded this next photo, they ALL keep coming sideways, so whatever, I'm leaving it) Auntie Genieve was in charge of getting the cake. She had the bakery write "Happy Birthday D" because she forgot how to spell Damaris. Hahaha. SO good!
We were all just hanging out and having a good time... waiting for the Chinese in our bellies to settle before we surprised Damaris and brought out the cake... butttt... Harrison went and spoiled it and kept shouting "Ice cream! Ice cream!" and would not stop. So, we brought out the ice cream and cake and lit the candles and sang to Damaris. Despite Harrison's shouting, she was still surprised!
